As an artist, I am currently preparing several new series of artwork...all in Black and White, Pen, Brush and Ink. The subjects of these series are going towards a book which I have been years in working---"The Road A-Cross" a travel journal of my personal travels upon return to the United States after a extended 9 years life abroad in Czech Republic and Italy. It is a story of travels upon arrival to a fresh sense of the American soil, with thousands of miles of image, and stories from town to town, and city to city travels from one part of the nation to the other. What can we find? It is a story of arts, artists survival, and a unique story of the artists life in juxtaposition to the lives of others. In the travels between Michigan to California, Texas and Iowa, and other places are touched and tapped in a brave new world of the artistic landscape, and pallet. The second works, are still under hand...slow in refining...suggesting of artists techniques and materials for drawing and painting, as per lessons learned from Masters, and my teachers--John Ferris Connah, a painter and student of John Singer Sargent, Revington Arthur, critic and New York painter, student of Arshile Gorky and others whom I have studied with...to pass the torch of ideas, concepts, art, and materials that are (for the most part) not being part of modern schools...but part of an age of enlightenment, now passed, as the world moves towards an industrial-technological mindset. (I feel that this is important...not that there are not many books of "How To" out there...but the "Why" is not being emphasized...most important to the rebirth of the cultural and artistic community. I am also working on a book with other professors on a wonderful new and enchanting montage of letters with biographical material of my parents...Ozan Marsh and Patricia Benkman, and the legacy they left to the 'art' of piano...another palette, and a legacy of teacher to student, that leads a musical line from Beethoven and Mozart forward.
