A Discussion Forum For Artists
In 1985 I was one of the first foreign artists from the United States to visit for 5 days the newly opened territory of Tibet, visiting Lhasa under Chinese Government permission. In that time I was invited for a return solo exhibition and had the gracious invitation of the Governor of the Territory work of period to be exhibited at the cultural center. This piece was done in Lhasa. Although produced in sketch form on the tour, and completed in the studio, the classical painting is reminiscent of older more classical art produced during that period during my artists residence in New York 1983-86. A portfolio of work from my Chinese travels exists to this day, exploring brushwork and an enlarged technique of brush painting.
One of many-many images I took as a photographer in Lhasa Tibet during my travels in 1985-low resolution...Richard Ozanne
